We are going to (re)combine the groups!

After talking with Pastor John tonight, we decided to recombine the groups for youth group. The logistics of working at a different time were not beneficial for anyone, and as a result attendance dropped to next to nothing.

I also was contemplating to myself yesterday at youth group that the younger kids would have had a lot of playing kickball with us, and that there were some elements of having a combined group that I really missed.

We agreed that the activity time and dinner would be appropriate for combined groups. And we also agreed that the lesson and worship times should be separated.

So, our basic game plan is as follows:
5:15(ish) - Game / Activity / Surprise me!
6:00 - Announcements and Dinner (Thanks Judy!!!)
6:30 - Middle School and High School Activities
7:30 - "The van leaves in 37 seconds!!!"

I HOPE and PRAY that this will work great for everyone involved!

Youth Grouppings!!!

"God gave me you for the ups and downs!" - That song was in my head for most of the day!

I think we had a good meeting tonight... And if there wasn't any football it would have been even better! But, we did go up to the high school and we played some kick ball. I did not get on base as Dylan magically knew where I was going to kick each time... You'd think I would have gone with a grounder?

We talked for a little bit about how God is not fair (in a way that is good for us). It's easy to see in the tale of the Prodigal Son, but a little more difficult to swallow when thinking about the criminal on the cross. Is being saved right before you doe "cheating?" Rather, I think that our only sadness should be that they were not saved sooner.

We are also doing a fundraiser for Superbowl Sunday, and we'll have a few more in the future. STAY TUNED!!!

Today in church!

We had a really good presentation in church today by a little group called SpitiTed. They came and spoke to our Sunday School class before church. They were awesome! John's website is at: www.jonathots.com. We got some of his materials and will probably have a movie night soon with one of his movies.

I guess that's it! I just felt moved and had to write something. God Bless!!!

I'm back!!! 20-11

Hi there!

Well, I'm here again typing instead of sleeping! Oh well! Yesterday was the first regular youth group we had this year. This week at youth group a student got sick, but thankfully I have a few adult helpers that came weekly and one of them was able to help take care of him. I also shared my personal testimony with the group as our message. I managed to not mention a single girlfriend through the whole speech, and when I asked for questions no one asked. I wonder if they were paying attention?

We have a bunch of events coming up that we will share with the group VERY soon. We want to go to Camp Pioneer and Creation this summer, and both will cost a good chunk of money for each of the youth. But all the kids who put in the time will be able to experience the great events we're putting on.
